Providing Oral Surgery Options To Benefit Your Smile

We offer many oral surgery options to ensure your smile remains healthy or prepare you for treatments to further improve it. These procedures include:

  • Tooth Extractions
Dr. Wilhelm will gently remove any tooth that needs to be taken out. He will first apply a local anesthetic, and if you need to be even more relaxed, he can offer sedation options as well. Dr. Wilhelm will make sure that you are comfortable and pain-free during your treatment.
  • Bone Grafts
A bone graft will build up the bone mass where it is lacking in your jaw. This is helpful for patients who have lost bone due to missing teeth or from wearing dentures. Bone grafts can correct deformities or rebuild the bone structure to make dental implant placement possible.
  • Ridge Augmentation
If you have a deformity in your jaw, a ridge augmentation may be recommended to correct it. This deformity can be caused by injury, accident, genetics, or missing teeth. Dr. Wilhelm will fill the area with bone or bone-like substance to promote new bone growth and improve the appearance of your jawline. This can accommodate the placement of dental implants, which require a healthy amount of bone.
  • Sinus Lifts
If you have low bone mass in your upper jaw, a sinus lift can increase that mass. Dr. Wilhelm will make a small opening in your bone in order to move your sinus membrane up into your sinus cavity. The remaining void is filled with bone or a bone substitute to prompt new bone growth in the area. This technique is also used to prepare for placement of dental implants.
  • Gum Grafts
Gum grafts are used to treat gum recession. Gum recession is a danger to your teeth, as the more the gums recede, the weaker the support for your teeth gets. This could lead to tooth loss. Gum disease is a big contributor to gum recession, as is any form of tobacco use. If you have gum recession, Dr. Wilhelm will determine if a gum graft is the right choice for you.
