No matter how it happened, if you lost a tooth, we want to help. You shouldn’t have to suffer the embarrassment of a smile filled with holes and gaps.

At the office of Dr. Mark Wilhelm in Woodbury, MN, we have a team of experienced staff members that are ready to help restore your smile and give you your life back. It’s time you considered tooth replacement.

Why Should I Consider Tooth Replacement?

Aren’t you tired of hiding your smile? Don’t you wish you had a smile you can show off with confidence?

Or maybe you’re unable to eat the foods you love because of an inability to chew them. Wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy your favorite foods again?

If you experience pain as a result of your missing teeth, don’t wait any longer to give us a call. Missing teeth not only put you at risk for worsening pain, but lost bone mass and the loss of more teeth as well.

The loss of bone mass and more teeth can soon set off an unfortunate chain reaction. You may experience a decline in your oral health, which can then affect your overall health.

Options For Tooth Replacement

At the Woodbury, MN office of Dr. Mark Wilhelm, we offer several options for tooth replacement. Your individual situation and desired end result will help determine which option is right for you. However, learn more about each option so you better inform Dr. Wilhelm and his staff of which options appeal most to you.

Dental Implants

For a natural-looking option that works just as well and lasts just as long as your natural teeth, consider dental implants. Because he has received advanced training as a prosthodontist, Dr. Wilhelm is able to use dental implants more successfully than your average dentist.

Dental implants offer stability unlike any other tooth replacement option. Dental implants are made from titanium and bond with your jawbone to fuse with your bone structure. Dental implants also protect your bone and support your natural bone structure. With proper care and regular dental checkups, dental implants can last a lifetime.

At our office, we offer the following dental implant options:

  • Single tooth replacement

If only one tooth needs to be replaced, we can place a single implant then attach a crown to fill that empty space.

  • All-on-4® and All-on-6® Implants

If you’re missing several teeth, All-on-4 or All-on-6 may be a good option for you. These implants allow us to replace all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw without need an implant for each missing tooth. Instead, we use four or six dental implants to hold your new teeth in place.

Dental Crowns & Bridges

Dental crowns are another great natural-looking tooth replacement option. At our Woodbury, MN office, we offer two types of dental crowns: traditional and implant restoration.

Traditional crowns are natural-looking porcelain caps we place over damaged teeth. Traditional crowns are usually great options for broken teeth, cracked teeth, and teeth with severe decay.

An implant restoration crown is a full replacement tooth and is attached to a dental implant to replace a missing tooth.

We also offer two types bridges: a fixed bridge and an implant-supported bridge. A fixed bridge uses two crowns and a fake tooth bonded between them. We will place the crowns over your teeth on either side of the gap where your tooth is missing, then anchor the bridge in place.

An implant-supported bridge is an option for patients who have lost three or more teeth. A bridge is secured to dental implants to replace those missing teeth.

Dentures

We also offer the following options for patients interested in dentures:

  • Implant-retained dentures

By placing a number of implants, we can then use those implants to help hold your dentures in place. The implants have balls attached to them that fit into the bottom of your denture to secure it.

  • Implant-supported dentures

With implant-supported dentures we use a bar instead of balls to hold your dentures in place. Your denture can clip onto the bar for a more secure feel without having to worry about slippery dentures.
