Creating Great Smiles Is Our Specialty

When a dentist talks about having a specialty, that’s not just talk. At least, it shouldn’t be.

The American Dental Association recognizes nine specialties, and our own Dr. Mark W. Wilhelm is one of those specialists.

Specifically, he is a prosthodontist. We’ll explain what that means in a moment. What you need to know is that he has the skills and experience to give you a smile that looks as good and many times better than it ever has.

If you have damaged or lost teeth, we encourage you to visit our office in Woodbury, MN. You can plan your visit by calling 651-319-9064.

Becoming a Prosthodontist

Dentistry, like medicine, has different kinds of doctors who focus on different aspects of care.

It’s why you have a family physician to do preventive care, but you would go to a surgeon if you needed a specific procedure or a dermatologist if you are dealing with a skin condition.

In dentistry, general dentists can do a lot of things, and we know general dentists who are amazing at what they do. But a prosthodontist like Dr. Wilhelm is an expert in replacing missing teeth and repairing teeth that have been damaged.

All prosthodontists must first graduate from dental school and obtain a dental license. Then they must complete a three-year residency for specialized training in services including implants placements and restorations, such as dental crowns, bridges, and dentures.
